Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has directed Chairmen of Interim Management Committee in the 27 local governments of the State to bring back junior staff of the LGAs to resume duty on the conditions of their ability to ensure enforcement and total adherence to all the Covid 19 protocols.
He gave the charge in a meeting with the 27 IMC Chairmen held at Exco Chambers, Government House, Owerri.
He further directed the IMC Chairmen to ensure that the junior staff subject themselves to temperature checks. He also ordered the Chairmen to provide wash hand buckets, face mask, and the possibility of social distancing as extant measures that will ensure that the lives of Local Government Staffs are not jeopardized.
The meeting is the first between the Governor and the Council Chairmen since they were appointed in April.
The Governor was quoted to have directed the Chairmen to be prudent with funds, charging them to be law abiding and ensure they are focused and to discourage any attempt to manipulate the payroll of their staff.
“You must be prudent in funds management,” he advised.
The Governor also directed the IMC Chairmen to distribute the excess palliatives in their warehouses to the people and even make arrangements to collect the last tranche from Government.
