Okorocha’s Men Win Round One In Scramble For Soul For Imo APC

The battle for the soul of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, seems to be tilting in favour of loyalists of former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, as Abuja Federal High Court struck out a motion of stay of execution brought before it by the Marcellinus Nlemigbo led faction of the party.

The presiding judge, Justice Musa described the stay of execution as mischievous, recalling that in July 2018, he had given a judgement which barred any organ of the party from tampering with the tenure of the duly elected leadership of the party.

The ruling gives the Dan Nwafor faction the needed legal backing to insist as the authentic state executives of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State.

The Nwafor faction is believed to be loyal to the former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, which is up against the Nlemigbo faction backed by Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The ruling also comes barely a week the Federal High Court, Owerri, ordered the sack of Interim Management Committee Chairmen in the 27 local governments appointed by Uzodinma .

Justice Ringim who gave the order described the Interim Chairmen as “ghost workers”, directing that they vacate for the elected Chairmen and Councillors elected during reign of former Governor Okorocha.
