The race for Okigwe Senate Seat within the fold of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has taken an interesting dimension, as contenders for the position, are scrambling for the endorsement and support of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
This is as feelers emerged that a dark horse will be drafted into the contest at the eleventh hour.
INNONEWS was reliably informed by sources that this could be the reason why Governor Hope Uzodinma has refused to let the cat out of the bag, by refusing to endorse openly or secretly, his choice candidate for the seat.
Despite pressure from some quaters to show his candidate, the Governor has kept mute on the endorsement.
“When the time comes, the masquerade will be unveiled, a dark horse will come into the contest.It is too early to do that now” the source said
It was also gathered that the “dark horse” may be drafted into the contest before the party primary as indications emerged that the Governor’s political camp is bent on having one of their own as Senator for Okigwe zone.
Last week, two leading contenders for the position intensified their efforts to demonstrate their seriousness to grab the position.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had secured a waiver to vie for the position from the APC national headquarters, while Senator Athan Achonu, opened up on his aspiration to the APC leadership in the State.
