July 20, 2020, is the next adjourned date set aside by the Federal High Court, Abuja, to hear a suit filed by the Reform and Advancement Party, RAP, and its 2019 governorship candidate, Okere Kingdom.
RAP had approached the court to seek judicial interpretation to ascertain if the All Progressive Congress, APC, sponsored Senator Hope Uzodinma as its governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Imo State
The plaintiff, Okere Kingdom, said he filed an application praying the court to abridge the time the defendants will file responses, despite the fact it is permissible within the law for defendants to respond within 3o days.
Lawyer of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Alhassan Umar, SAN, in his response said the defendants needed to take enough time as allocated by the law to respond which is in line with principles of fair hearing.
The presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang, adjourned the matter until July 20 to hear the application, directing that hearing notices should be served on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the party was not represented in court.
