Worried by the spate of complaints by workers in the State over unpaid salaries and deductions, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Imo State chapter, says it will forward a list of unpaid workers to the Imo State government.

This is coming on the heels of recent protest by pensioners in the State who on Monday, took to the streets of Owerri, to protest non payment of pensions.

Four pensioners reportedly collapsed during the protest.

The State government has consistently insisted that it is owing no worker a dime, as those claiming non payment are ghost workers.

Austin Chilakpu, Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Imo State chapter, was quoted by an Owerri based tabloid, Trumpeta to have said that Labour is worried over complaints of non payment of salaries by workers and have resolved to forward names of those owed to the state government.

” We have met with the state government on this and what we are doing on this and what we are doing is to clear the doubts before the next step” Mr.Chilakpu said

He continued “A good number of those affected have come to our office. We have complied and before Thursday, the list would have been submitted to the Governor.

“We need to do our own verification before confronting government over non payment. And having gotten what we want, the next step is to forward to the government.
