INNONEWS Survives Major Cyber Attack

Online newspaper, INNONEWS, on Friday, escaped malicious cyber attack launched from three verifiable sources from multiple locations in Owerri, Imo State capital.

This made readers to struggle in vain to access our website as one word report that the site account had been “suspended” popped out

The website had been under constant cyber attack since last month, but was consistently repelled by the online newspaper team of cyber engineers.

It was observed that the attack became more intense after we ran series of stories pertaining to certain political developments in one of the two leading political parties in Imo State.

Before then, several efforts were made by the hackers to clone the social media platforms of the online newspaper.

However, the website bounced back after 8 hours of intensive recovery effort carried out by the anti Cyber theft team of the newspaper led by Mr. Ikechukwu Enyioha, a ICT engineer with vast experience on cybernetics.

According to Mr. Enyioha, he said “on Friday, August 21, 2020, a malicious and deadly cyber attack, was launched on INNONEWS website from verifiable locations with modern cyber hacking equipment and methods, with the overall aim to eclipse the online newspaper, adjudged the most dependable and reliable online news service in Imo State and East of the Niger.

“We interrupted the wave of the attacks after combining together, creative and wonderful minds, across three continents to restore the site, re fortify it and bring it back to life.

”The attack was highly co -ordinated with an arrow head operating with state of the art hacking tools. In all, he ran a total of seven DOS attacks on the website

Speaking on the development, Publisher of the online newspaper, Mr.Innocent Onyeukwu, said “such attacks on the news website had become frequent in recent times, but we have done our bit to ensure we fend them off. We are glad they did not succeed.

“We urge our numerous readers to bear with us over the sudden interruption, as we have repackaged the website to serve our readers better” Mr.Onyeukwu said.
