APC Consensus Candidate Emerges For Okigwe Senate Bye Election

Sir Frank Ibezim, is said to have emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, for Okigwe senate bye election.

His emergence justified our earlier report of a deal reached by top players in the APC to anoint Ibezim, the consensus candidate of the party.

At the exercise, he was said to have scored four votes, to defeat 12 other aspirants, who appeared before the panel to set up select a consensus candidate.

Reports say Hon.Mathew Omegara, who scored three votes, Senator Athan Achonu, Chief John Onyegbule and Hon. Bright Nwachukwu got two votes each.

Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Hon.Chikem Onuoha, Rt Hon.Acho Ihim, Hon Mark Echendu, Chief Eze Okoro, Prof Osu Nwebo, Chidinma Uwajumuogu , got one vote each.

The Panel was led by Secretary to the State Government, Prof Maurice Iwu.

However, there are strong indications that some of the aspirants will jettison the consensus arrangement and opt for the party primaries slated for September 3, 2020.

11 aspirants are said to have purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for seven million naira.
