*The Aggrieved Chieftains are led By Senator Samuel Anyanwu*
*They are in court to kick against the party state congress
There is impending crisis in Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as some party chieftains have gone to court.
Their grouse is the State congress of the party, which produced the State Chairman, Engr.Charles Ugwu, and other state executive members of the party.
The aggrieved chieftains include former governorship aspirant, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Sam Daddy), member, representing Njaba, Nkwerrre and Njaba State constituency, Hon.Jones Onyeriri, who vied for the 2019 Orlu zone Senate seat.
Onyeriri was a former ally of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha. What prompted his volte face and a broken relationship with Ihedioha could not be deciphered as at the time of filing this report.
Also included in the suit is Hon.Jerry Alagabaso, member representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Federal Constituency, amongst others.
Details of the suit were sketchy as at press time, but analysts say the suit was expected, considering the manner the State party Congress was held, as only core loyalists of the former Governor of the State, Emeka Ihedioha, dominated the exercise and took up all positions at the State level of the party during the controversial congress.
Ihedioha was said to dictated the Congress, planting all his loyalists as executive members. Senator Anyanwu had engaged in a political brawl with Ihedioha after the 2018 PDP Governorship primary.
He had challenged the primary which produced Ihedioha as the party’s Governorship flagbearer until the Supreme Court ruled in Ihedioha’s favour.
The latest development is coming barely few weeks to Primary of the party to elect a candidate for the PDP for the Okigwe senate bye election.
Two aspirants, as at the time of filing this report, have picked the Party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms and have been cleared by the Screening Committee for the Primary.
