Okigwe Senate Bye Election: INEC Unveils Fresh Guidelines, Directs Parties To Hold Primaries Between Aug 28- Sept 8

All political parties fielding candidates for the October 31, 2020 Okigwe senate bye election, has to hold primary to elect candidates between August 24- September  8, 2020

In a release by the INEC Electoral Commissioner, Imo State, Prof Francis Ezeonu, the commission said following it’s published time table for the election, all political parties fielding candidates should make available to INEC office, their primary election dates, venues, time of Congress/election, agenda and guidelines.

According to the Commission, each party is also to provide a list of it’s planning committee members, a comprehensive list of delegates, a list of nominated candidates/contestants and other necessary documents.It also advised political parties to adhere strictly to their guidelines for primary election as well as the Covid 19 prevention guidelines.


INEC said it gave October 17 as the last day for submission of names, addresses and two passport size photographs of polling agents, to the electoral officers, as provided in section 45 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended)
