It is no longer news that the Rebuild Imo Government of His Excellency Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was cut short.
The truth remains that Imo people missed a lot in the absence of the man Emeka Ihedioha.
One of the significant memory of that government was the resurrection and repositioning of the 27 Local Govt Councils in Imo State from the moribond look and totally dilapidated state of the infrastructures at the council secretariat across the 27 local government.
Owerri Municipal Council Secretariat is a case study. When the Interim Management Committee of Owerri Municipal Council led by Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere (ABJ) Chairman resumed at the council as Interim Management Committee, they met dilapidated state of the infrastructures at the council secretariat of Owerri Municipal Council. The whole place was in shambles and in a total mess, the roof of the offices at the council secretariat were licking. The premises was an eyesore.
Today, it is on record that Rebuild Imo government of His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha brought about new life and new look at the 27 local government secretariat and beyond.
In Owerri Municipal Council, roads inside the council were reconstructed and tarred. 100% renovation of Owerri Municipal Council Secretariat was done within the very short period of the Interim Management Committee ably led by Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere AbJ. With construction of 12 new standard toilets, new car park, reconnecting of running water at the secretariat after over 8yrs. Restoring of electricity at the council. While at the local government council, jobs were created through establishment of Owerri Municipal Guard (OMG) which helped in curtailing activities of hoodlums terrorising the municipality. Indigent women were employed and known as Owerri Municipal Sweepers.
Under the Chairmanship of Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere, Owerri Municipal council procured two (2) Earth moving equipments for maintenance and construction of municipal environs.
A Sienna bus was purchased to enhance security challenges the people were facing before the appointment of the IMC Chairman and the members.
As a sports loving governor then His Excellency Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha also brought hope alive in our sports activities mostly to our sports men and women through construction of mini stadia.
Today a visit at Old Stadium at Tetlow road will surprise anyone who has not been there for some time. The new spectators stand is at 80% completion before the abrupt removal of the Rebuild Imo government.
The pitch is now wearing a new look just as it is today at the Owerri Municipal council secretariat.
One of the reasons why Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere excel in addressing issue of security challenge was because their was maximum cooperation from the Nigeria police force and other security agencies.This was why he quickly purchased and fixed the gate of Owerri Urban police station at Egbu Rd when his attention was drawn that the station was without a gate.
Before the procurement of the 500Kva transformer for Umuororonjo community, the community have suffered over electricity issues. But procurement and installing of the transformer brought new life to the community.This gesture was also targeted to other communities and areas with challenges of electricity around municipality.
Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere magical touch was also seen at Chukwuma Nwoha to Egbu Rd through making the road passable. Local government were made to take responsibilities and provide good governance at the grassroot level.
Under Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere, Owerri Municipal Council were seen doing maintenance job to some of the roads and streets in municipality. At warehouse roundabout, Owerri Municipal Council Under Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere were seen doing maintenance and at fire service roundabout and some other areas.
During Christmas festival, the Rebuild Imo government of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha through local government council shared hundreds of bags of rice to the people, this was applauded by all as such have not been heard before.
Old Stadium Plaza was built after it was demolished by the past government of Sen Rochas Okorocha.
Municipal Council sponsored three female interim management Committee Members to the Holy Land of Israel for pilgrimage. After numerous projects and good plans of Rebuild Imo government, one will simply understand the reason why Imolites cry and continues wishing and hoping that their mandate be returned.
These and many more were signatory projects of Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere (AbJ) as the Interim management committee chairman of Owerri Municipal Council.
