The All Progressive Congress, APC, national leadership, has made it clear that it will only support credible candidates in the forthcoming October 31 bye elections.

The concurrent legislative bye elections,Okigwe senate bye election in Imo State inclusive, will take place in eight states of the federation.

The APC in Imo State, had chosen a consensus option to choose a candidate, which backfired, as 13 aspirants who have secured Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms, rejected the arrangement, and are heading to Primary.

Two factions also exist in the party in the State.

Mai Mala Buni, National Chairman, APC Caretaker/Extra Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, gave the charge at the inauguration of the party’s Screening and Appeal Committees for the bye election.

Buni, who was represented at the inauguration by the Caretaker Committee Secretary, Senator John Udoedeghe, said the resolve to back credible candidates for the elections, is an indication of moving the party in a new direction and would ensure that things are done properly henceforth.

The Committee was also charged to be fair to all aspirants and ensure that only those with impeccable records in their careers were chosen as APC candidates.
