The Edo state governorship election, has been described as “as a reference point for political leaders of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State”

Speaking to INNONEWS, in an interview, Friday in Owerri, a chieftain of the party in the State, Chief Ukadike Anyanwu, said the loss of the APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu to Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP, is a manifestation of the fact that ‘no one, no matter how highly placed should play God’

He said “We are aware of the role of the former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole, who wanted to play God. No man decides the fate of another. Power is in the hands of God. And more importantly no man is an island or can go it all alone.

“This is why the Edo state governorship election is a good reference point for our political leaders especially in the APC in Imo State. I advise strongly that our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and former Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, should resolve their political differences now, for the interest and survival of our party, the APC in Imo State, to avoid what happened in Edo state to not occur in Imo State

“It was Oshiomole’s inability to reconcile whatever differences he had with Obaseki that contributed to the loss of the APC in the State. What started like a little quarrel ended up consuming not just Oshiomole but the entire APC in Edo State.

“Okorocha and Gov. Uzodinma are two key leaders of the party and they must close ranks for the survival of the APC in Imo State.

“Why we (APC) lost the Edo state governorship election was because Oshiomole never allowed Obaseki to reconcile with him. They forced him (Obaseki) out of the APC and he went to the PDP where he won the governorship election. Now who is the ultimate loser, is it not the APC, it is not even Oshiomole?

“Such scenario is gradually playing out in Imo APC. If Uzodinma and Okorocha do not reconcile now, it may jeopardize the party’s chances in future elections. Was it not the same rift between Okorocha and Uzodinma that gave Ihedioha of the PDP the opportunity to win the 2019 governorship election?

“You can see that we are gradually getting to that point again. This time we may not be lucky to retrieve the governorship of the state through the Supreme Court which removed Ihedioha and put Uzodinma.

“Oshiomole and Obaseki quarreled for more than two or three years and the consequences was the loss of the governorship to the PDP. This is 2020 and if nothing is done to reconcile Okorocha and Uzodinma from now to 2022, then Imo APC may stand the risk of losing the state” he noted

Ukadike, who said he played an active role during the formation of the APC in 2014, said the APC cannot afford to lose Imo State in the future.

“ I see things before they happen. What happened in Edo state may be knocking on our door in 2023 unless our party leaders resolve their political differences between Uzodinma and Okorocha” he said
