Radical Surgeon and Pro lifer, Dr. Phillip Njemanze, has raised an alarm, alleging the dangers of VAPP Bill 2020, which has been domesticated and passed into law in 30 States of the federation.

Njemanze does not want the law to be domesticated in Imo State because, according to him, the Bill is derived from the Maputo protocol, stating that “the Maputo Protocol in Article 14 (c) mandates abortion all through nine months of pregnancy”

In a paper titled “Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) (VAPP) Bill, 2020, As Domestication of Maputo Protocol” ,made available to INNONEWS, Njemanze, who is the Chairman, Global Prolife Alliance (GPA) and BOT Member Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (ACMPN), faulted the bill in all ramifications.

According to him “The abortion could be done for all health conditions including simple headache or vomiting.  It could be claimed that ‘it endangers the mental and physical health of the mother’ at stated in the Maputo Protocol: Section 14(c) protect the reproductive rights of women by authorising medical abortion in cases of sexual assault, rape, incest, and where the continued pregnancy endangers the mental and physical health of the mother or the life of the mother or the foetus.

He continued “The VAPP Law in its original form legalized abortion. In the current draft, the Imo State VAPP Bill 2020, it deceptively deleted the section on Abortion.

“The current VAPP Bill 2020 does not prohibit abortion as the highest violence by killing of the most vulnerable, the helpless Unborn Child in the womb of the mother. Claiming to protect the victims, the VAPP Bill achieves the contrary of promoting violence against the unborn child. It advocates life sentence for perpetrators of rape, but death sentence for the innocent unborn child, who was not present at the time of the rape.

“The VAPP Bill is inconsistent with the provision for Right to Life in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. To make the present VAPP Bill 2020 consistent with the Right to Life provision of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it has to insert a section for protection of the most vulnerable of persons, the Unborn Child and all progenitor cells that form human life.

According to him, the bill promotes deadly violence against the Nigerian women

“Currently, the vexing statue on legalization of abortion was stepped down to overcome opposition from religious and traditional groups.

“Abortion, Same-Sex Marriage, Ban of Holy Bible and Holy Koran in schools and other contentious provisions would be inserted into the VAPP Bill in amendments of the bill which would be accomplished as procedural matters of the House of Assembly in the various states.

“The current strategy is to insert issues that will destroy the family as the main fabrics of African society. The foreign sponsors seek to introduce female inheritance rights that would send divorce rates high and cause family disunity. They seek to introduce succession rights for women in their families including title to traditional kingship, which would destroy communities held together by the traditional governance system.

“It would render African culture and traditions irrelevant to social order. This would require that all social, religious and cultural inhibitions be removed so that a woman can do what she wants with her body including self-donation of her ovarian eggs to make money.

“Most of these women would die from complications (liver failure, kidney failure, infections, cancers, infertility) of ovarian egg donation called Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). They intend to gag priests, religious, imams, traditional leaders by declaring that any form of teaching of moral codes is a form of mental and psychological abuse to women who feel offended by it. The offence of psychological abuse carries a punishment of imprisonment.

“The parents must be silenced by declaring any discipline of the children is physical, mental and psychological abuse. A police state guard guarded by the Committees and Courts for the VAPP Bill 2020 would turn Nigeria into a Big Prison for ALL CITIZENS. The VAPP Bill 2020 must be dead on arrival in all States of the Federation.
