Rumbles Again In Imo PDP Over Ugwu Led Exco

  • The PDP in Imo State is resisting the antics of those who want the exit of Charles Ugwu as Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State is still enveloped in political drama, two months after it held its state congress which led to the emergence of Charles Ugwu as Chairman, and other members of the State Working Committee, SWC.

A group of aggrieved party stakeholders had secured an order of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, stopping Ugwu from himself parading as Chairman of the party.

The court order is a reflection of the cold war still ongoing in the party after the congress. But some party leaders told INNONEWS that those after the current party leadership are “political loafers bent on causing confusion in the party”

Imo PDP spokesman, Ogu Bundu Nwadike, in a statement punctured those after the state Chairman.

“Our great Party wishes to unequivocally state here, for purpose of clarity, that Engr. Charles C. Ugwuh OON remains the State Chairman of PDP in Imo State. The Engr. Charles Ugwuh-led State Executive Committee remains the administrative authority of PDP in Imo state as authenticated by the National Working Committee (NWC) of our Party.

“Therefore, the Party hereby informs her teeming members that appropriate steps have since been taken to set aside by appeal of the ruling, which was obviously delivered in error. The Party has since filed a motion for stay of execution of the interlocutory order, while actions are being expedited to get the substantive suit fully determined” he stated

However, the gale of defections rocking the party has continued to deplete its fold as one of its leaders in Owerri North LGA, Chief Henry Njoku, (Harritex) has left the PDP for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Harritex had vied and lost the PDP ticket for Owerri Federal Constituency in 2006.
