There are feelers that Chairmen of 27 Interim Management committees, IMC, in the Local Governments in Imo State may be dissolved soon.

Governor Hope Uzodinma had appointed Interim Local Government Chairmen and Councilors, to run the affairs of the Council in March 2020.

Indications however emerged that the Governor may have come under pressure to sack them, as part of efforts to retool his administration, and “inject fresh blood at the LG system, to drive home the core mandate of the 3r mantra of the present government at the grassroots”

The present Council Chairmen, were said to have been appointed solely by the Governor without consultations and inputs from party leaders and stakeholders in 27 the local governments.

This is said to have ignited rivalry and in some cases, led to countless face off between some of the Interim Council Chairmen and party leaders, and to an extent, with some appointees of the Governor.

In some cases, some members of the State House of Assembly are also are at logger heads with the Interim Council Chairmen over “lack of consultations”

A source who hinted this newspaper of the impeding dissolution of the interim LGA bosses said “Any time from now, the LGA Interim Management Committees in the 27 LGAs will be dissolved.

“There has been so much skirmishes at the local governments between the Chairmen and some stakeholders in the LGAs.

“In some local governments, we witnessed open face off between Councillors and the Chairmen. Votes of no confidence have been passed on some of them and there is no day that passes by, without complaints about the Interim Chairmen.

“Some of the feud had degenerated to the point where there was bloody clashes such as in Owerri Municipal where some the Chairman’s aides engaged in a free for all with some of the Councillors.
