Imo State may field two presidential aspirants in the 2023 presidential election. The two presidential hopefuls are of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

At a time, the clamour for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is gathering momentum, there are feelers that more Igbo will plunge into the contest, and Imo State will not be left out of the fray.

Based on the foregoing, there are indications that former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, and Minister of State, Education, Emeka Nwajiuba are set to join the race to succeed President Buhari in 2023.

INNONEWS gathered that Nwajiuba has already set up a political structure known as Project Nigeria group, PNG, with the aim of oiling his presidential ambition.

The group is made up of long time political associates of the Junior Minister and is on the verge of being established in almost all the 36 states of the federation. The group has already embarked on aggressive membership drive.

Senator Rochas Okorocha is expected to join the presidential race though he has not openly declared his ambition.  He has been speculated to have intensified consultations across the country to prepare grounds for his ambition. The former Imo State Governor was recently honoured by a pro amlmajiri group in Bauchi State.

If he decides to contest, this will be his third attempt to become President of Nigeria after vying for the position in the PDP, defunct ANPP and in 2014, on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
