The Imo State Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, led by Prince Marcelinus Nlemigbo, may get further extension of its tenure.

This comes on the heels of vote of confidence passed on Governor Mai Bala Buni led National Caretaker Committee by the 36 state chairmen of the APC in Abuja.

The tenure of the Buni caretaker committee is expected to end in December, but there are signs that the committee’s tenure will be extended.

When the Committee was constituted in June to replace the Adams Oshiomole led National Working Committee, NWC, part of its mandate was to hold a National Convention for the party by December.

But there are no signs that the party’s Convention will not hold as planned, since congresses preceding the Convention are yet to take place in the State chapters.

However, there are indications that such extension may trickle down to the State chapters of the party, particularly the Imo State chapter where Nlemigbo holds sway.

The Nlemigbo caretaker committee is backed by Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Another faction loyal to former Governor Rochas Okorocha and led by Daniel Nwafor, have also continued to lay claims as the authentic executive of the party, citing court judgments which reinstated it as the party leadership in the State.

Factional Chairman of the party, Daniel Nwafor, has however vowed to drag the Buni led National Caretaker Committee to court, if it embarks on fresh membership drive in the party.
