Imo State is indebted to the Igbo nation. The State must put forward it’s finest to lead Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, the respected and revered apex Igbo pan socio political organization.

Ohaneze Ndi Igbo moderates the heartbeat of Igbo nation. It has become an octopus with tentacles. Solid, firm and decisive. They dictate the path Igbo take on their journey to attain political liberation.

At the moment, Igbo nation are at crossroads of her political destiny. The next political dispensation in 2023 will be a defining period for Igbo. At a time Nigeria has become a circus, an unpredictable entity, where uncertainty reigns supreme, we must have a fierce and purposeful Ohaneze Ndi Igbo leadership. We need not anymore a spineless organization whose leaders pet words, speak queens English and carry briefcases.

Other ethnic groups in Nigeria are becoming more daring and audacious about self determination and other issues that affect them. And they are willing to advance their interest with all the firepower and adrenaline they posses. They are led by fiery men, men who feel the heartbeat of their people, with the burning passion to champion their good cause. Men of character, whose voices echo, vibrate the needs and expectations of their people.

Therefore, the next Ohaneze Ndi Igbo leadership should not be a laughing stock. It must be of sterner stuff. Dr. Nnia Nwodo, the outgoing President performed creditably. He vibrated the ideals of the organization. He led well.Nwodo deserves thumps up thus far. He gave Ohaneze a new face.

The post Nwodo Ohaneze Ndi Igbo should do better. We must have an Ohaneze that can speak truth to power and its leadership must earn and command respect.  The new Ohaneze leadership must be lead by someone with the brain of an Aristotle and the Wisdom of Solomon. An Ohaneze that can defeat a Goliath! And not pander to the whims and caprices of some self seeking politicians in Igboland and anti Igbo forces. The post Nwodo Ohaneze Ndi Igbo organization must not be a lame duck; and must be led by one with the burning passion to lead the Igbo nation firmly.

Imo State is due to produce the next President of the apex pan socio political Igbo organization. It is strange that there are no interested candidates from the State for the number one job yet. A former Secretary General of the organization and one time Commissioner in Imo State, Dr. Jeo Nworgu, was reported in the media to have indicated interest to contest Ohaneze. But a market is not complete when buyers and sellers are yet to converge. A tree cannot make a forest. The more the merrier.

Imo State can do better. We need more sons of the State to step out for the contest. We have them in abundance. Credible men abound in the State. And I get curious why they are shying away from the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Presidential race which is expected to hold in January 2021.

I was informed Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie, a former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, IMSU, has interest in the contest. If truly he does, it’s a welcome development. We need more of Imo’s finest to come forward. We do not have them in short supply. They abound at home and in Diaspora.

Igbo are in dire need of political direction and liberation from economic strangulation. The next Ohaneze Ndi Igbo President must define which path Ndi Igbo must follow. The quest for Igbo Presidency, the self determination agenda championed by IPOB, and the burning issue, restructuring of the nation, are raging issues. Only a solid Ohaneze leadership with an articulate President at the helm can define our stake in the face of these landmines at a period a cloudy political weather is hovering around the nation.

Imo State owes it a duty to the Igbo race to produce a vibrant President General for Ohaneze. Imo must rescue Igbo nation. It must give Ndi Igbo the best. It must salvage the Igbo nation. The beautiful ones are not yet born.
