Details Of N6bn Imo Youth Empowerment Programme Emerge

After the Endsars protest in Imo State, the state government says it will unveil N6billion naria for an accelerated youth empowerment programme.

Governor Hope Uzodinma in a broadcast, Saturday said N2billion will be released immediately for the immediate take off of the programme.

He said the funds will be deployed for the training of the first batch of the beneficiaries which will commence next week.

According to him, an estimated number of 500,000 Imo youths in different skills acquisition programmes within the next two years will be trained in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd batches, and will be provided with start up capital to begin their own enterprises.

The programme, Uzodinma said, will be known as Imo State Special Youth Empowerment and Intervention Programme (IMYEIP), stating that the State Ministry of Skills Acqusition and Entrepreneurship is charged with its implementation.

He said the training time table will be rolled out on October 27th, 2020.

He further announced that “ In this regard, the 5000  Imo Youths who have already been trained in different skills are to be given their start up capital very soon. The Ministry will work out the detail of this in addition to the time table for other training sessions.
