• There seems to be a consensus among stakeholders of the APC in Owerri zone rejecting Charles Amadi as Chairman of a committee to hold a rally for Imo Governor

A gang up by key stakeholders and leaders against Chief Charles Amadi (Charvon), is taking place in Owerri zone chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The gang up accentuated to an unprecedented level, when some party leaders and stakeholders in the zone opted to hold a grand reception for Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

A sizeable number of party leaders are opposed to plans by Chief Amadi, (Charvon) to head a committee that wants to organize a grand reception for the Governor.

Informed sources told INNONEWS that Mr. Amadi’s plan to head the Reception committee, is alleged to be part of his ploy to hijack the leadership of the party in the zone.

It was gathered that a notable chieftain of the party, Chief Lemmy Akakem, seems to have the backing of key actors in the party to lead the zone. He is said to be leading the party in the zone and is suspected to be weaving forces against Mr. Amadi’s emergence as Chairman of the planing commitee for the Governor’s reception.

Trouble however started that when Amadi, Akakem and one Ikay Njoku, convened a meeting where Amadi unilaterally appointed himself as Chairman of the Reception Committee for the Governor’s reception.

This was opposed by other top leaders of the zone including former Deputy Govenor of the State, Prince Eze Madumere.

The grouse against Amadi is said to stem from the fact that he “flirted with Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance, AA, during the build up to the 2019 governorship election”

Efforts to speak to Mr. Amadi on the development was futile as at press time but reliable sources said those opposed to his appointment as Chairman of the Reception Commitee for the Governor, are bent on stopping him on his tracks.
