• The Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, say it is disturbed how the state commonwealth are managed

A watchdog group based in Imo State, the Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, has advised Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and his predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, to step forward and give account of the finances of the State.

The IAC in a statement in Owerri, Sunday, signed by Fidelis Echendu, spokesman of the coalition, said it is alarmed at mind blowing revelations, how both leaders have managed the commonwealth of the State.

The group stated that the report of Justice Benjamin Iheaka probe panel which accused Okorocha of misappropriating over N106 billion via award of contracts when he was Governor, are “too weighty to be ignored”

“The allegations as weighty as they are, should not be swept under the carpet. It is more disturbing to learn of allegations made by the former Governor, who accused the present Governor of collecting over N100 billion naira from the federation account since January 2020, when the Supreme Court pronounced Uzodinma Governor of Imo State.

“We are stunned how the government has gone cold feet over these allegations. And days after the allegations were made by Okorocha, it is yet to come up with a defence on how such funds which accrued to the State within the past eight months have been utilized

“These are no moonlight stories and we believe the people of Imo State deserve more than media reports, to know exactly what has happened to their commonwealth during Okorocha’s tenure and the ongoing reign of the present government.

“We are worried over this shocking revelations and we want the state government to act immediately on the Justice Iheaka probe report which indicted Okorocha

“Both leaders owe it a responsibility to explain to the people of Imo State what has to their money. They should step forward and tell us what happened to our money. These are public funds not private wealth.

Okorocha had in a press release signed on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, said “Governor Uzodinma should explain what he has done with N119 billion he has collected from the Federation Account and N6.4 billion ISOPADEC fund”
