• A former INEC staff is seeking judicial interpretation to ascertain if the APC had a governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Imo State

The seeming endless legal tussle over the 2019 Imo governorship contest continues at the Supreme Court, October 22.

A former Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Phillip Umeadi, contend that the All Progressive Congress, APC had no governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election.

He argued that the apex court had nullified the candidature of Uche Nwosu, on the basis that he was dual candidate of the Action Alliance, AA and the All Progressive Congress, APC, having purchased Nomination forms of both political parties.

Umeadi’s prayer is that based on the Supreme Court judgement technically, that APC in Imo State ought not to have a governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election, stating that the Supreme Court being the highest court in the land cannot probate and reprobate on the same matter.

Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that the matter will come up at the Supreme Court for hearing on October 22 after the court had constituted a six man panel of judges to hear the case.

The Reform and Advancement Party, RAP, had withdrew a similar matter at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
