- OYC accused Igbo leaders of failing to make demands to the Buhari delegation

The Ohaneze Youth Council, has blamed Igbo leaders for failing to present genuine problems of Igbo nation to a presidential delegation led President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari who visited leaders of the region in Enugu last week
Gambari had at the weekend headed a presidential delegation which interacted with Igbo leaders such as State governors, Ministers, prominent traditional rulers, and others.
In a statement sent to INNONEWS, President General OYC, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka said Igbo leaders failed to canvass “the real issues concerning the economic growth and progress of Ndigbo”
“They fearfully (Igbo leaders) and selfishly failed to query or present salient issues to the presidential delegates, such as why $2.8b Ajaokuta, Kano and Kaduna gas pipeline project was awarded and ala Igbo (Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia and Anambra States) that has the highest gas quantity in Nigeria was sidelined”
The OYC also blamed Igbo leaders for failing to present to the presidential delegation “the need for an industrial gas pipeline in Igboland that will aid our region for an industrial revolution”
“The so called gathering could not demand for the construction of Otuocha-Nmiata road to Kogi by extension to Abuja that was abandoned since 45 years ago, a Federal road that connected Igbo land from Onitsha to the North, that can only take 3:30 hrs drive to Abuja.
“It is a pity that our political office holders in Igboland deliberately shied away from bringing on the table the overdue demand of Ndigbo to have a regional security outfit like Amotekun”
The OYC leader also expressed worry that the issue of restructuring, a lasting solution to the political instability in the country was not presented at the meeting.
He expressed concern that South East leaders were not brave enough like their counter parts in the South West who demanded for restructuring of the country.
“Our South East leaders ended up singing hallelujah songs to the President just to curry favour from the northern political elements” Igboayaka alleged
He noted that prior to the meeting “there was no consultation with the Town Unions or Youth organizations to determine the pressing needs of Ndi Igbo before the meeting with the presidential delegation
The group noted that it’s rejects the outcome of the meeting.
