Detained Imo Assembly Member Regains Freedom

  • Okoro was alleged to have engaged in altercations with the Deputy Speaker of the House

Hon Hecules Okoro, member representing Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly has been granted bail by an Owerri Magistrate Court.

On the first day the matter came up at the Court,the presiding magistrate  D.V Okoroji, ordered that the lawmaker be remanded in the facility of Nigeria Correctional Service for assault.

Hon. Cyriacus Okoro Heclus and four of his aides were arrested on Friday 13th November 2020, over altercations with the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Amara Iwuanyawnu at Government House, Owerri.

The lawmaker was alleged to have charged at the Deputy Speaker of the House.

His constituents who had staged a peaceful protest in his constituency had also appealed for the release of the lawmaker.
