South East Governors may decide who takes over from John Nnia Nwodo as next President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, INNONEWS has learnt.
The apex pan Igbo organization is set to hold it’s presidential election in January 2021.
Imo State is to produce the next president of the organization in line with it’s rotational policy.
INNONEWS gathered that because of the crucial role Ohaneze Ndigbo will play ahead of the 2023 presidential election, governors of the region are said to be making moves to influence who becomes the next president of the group.
A source revealed that part of the measures by the governors is to hijack the delegates that will participate in the election from their various states.
He said that State governors conscious of the powerful role Ohaneze Ndi Igbo will play in 2023, are allegedly contemplating influencing the delegates that will come from their States to take part in the election.
“They want a hold on the organization and as it is now, a consensus candidate is in the offing. A lot of consultations are ongoing and a dark horse may end up emerging the next President General of Ohaneze
At the moment, two aspirants have officially announced their intention to become the next President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo from Imo State. They are Jeo Nworgu, a former Secretary General of the organisation and Mr. Joseph Osuagwu.
