- The sacked LGA Chairmen had made a similar vow recently
The 27 sacked local government Chairmen and Councilors, elected during the reign of former Governor Rochas Okorocha have restated their commitment, to take over the 27 local government headquaters on November 30
They had made a similar vow last week.
Spokesman of the group, Obed Njemanze, who spoke on behalf of the Councillors, said they will join the elected Chairmen to regain the 27 local government headquaters on Nov.30.
He said they were suspended in error by the Ihedioha administration, adding that it is wrong for Transition Commitees to be running the LGA system.
He recalled that the Federal High Court in it’s ruling on 1st July, 2020, ordered their reinstatement on the basis, that State governors and Houses of Assembly lack the powers to dissolve or suspend elected local government officials.
The sacked Chairmen and Councilors had made a similar move to take over the 27 local governments in December 2019 but were resisted by Interim Management Commitee Chairmen appointed by then Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
