Imo Editors Confer Award Of Honour On Rector, Federal Poly, Nekede

Editors of Owerri based newspapers, have conferred an award of honour on the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Revd (Engr) Dr. Micheal Arimanwa.

The award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and growth of the citadel of learning.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Innocent Onyeukwu, said the award was bestowed on the Rector, for his uncommon passion towards the upliftment of the institution.

He said the Editors Forum, which came into existence in 2008, annually bestow awards on two persons of repute, and confer them with deserving awards for their exploits and successes in various fields of human endeavour.

He said the Rector was selected for the 2020 awards, alongside with the Minister of State, Education, Hon.Emeka Nwajiuba, after a thorough screening exercise by the forum, which appraised his performance since he was appointed Rector of the institution.

In his acceptance speech, the Rector, Revd Arimanwa, expressed gratitude to the Forum for the award of honour conferred on him, stating that he is happy to be associated with the Editors Forum.

He advised the Editors to use their positions to tutor their reporters to report accurately, and also ensure that reports of their reporters are cross checked before publication. He harped on the need for balanced reportage which he identified as the hallmark of journalism.

He dedicated the award to the management, staff and students of the Institution for aiding him immensely to ensure the growth of the institution.

He announced that based on proactive measures taken by the management, Federal poly has become the most sought after Polytechnic in the country.

The highlight of the event was the award presentation to the Rector by the Chairman of the forum, Mr.Eze Adiuku, and other members of the forum.
