The Caretaker/ Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC has slated December 12, 2020 for the commencement of membership registration and re-validation.
This newspaper was reliably informed that the the exercise will begin from December 12, 2020, to January 9, 2021.
In a related development, a chieftain of the party in the State, Chief Celestine Amadi, has revealed that leaders of the party are on “mass poaching” of top PDP Chieftains in the South East zone.
Speaking to INNONEWS in Owerri, Amadi said following the defection of Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi from the PDP to the APC, more PDP Chieftains in the region will now follow suit.
“There is mass poaching embarked on by the APC, in the South East targeted at prominent PDP members to join the ruling party
“We are not limiting it to Governors and Senators of the PDP alone.We are also targeting members of the National Assembly, both past and present members, and I can tell you, it is yielding results. Several meetings have taken place and we remain hopeful and optimistic
“The South East need to brighten it’s chances of picking the APC presidential ticket for the 2023 presidential race. And the only way to achieve it, is to collapse the entire South East for the APC
“There is fresh political alignments between the North and the South East over 2023, and the APC, as the ruling party, is the surest platform to realize a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.
“The defection of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, is a tip of the iceberg. Aside one or two PDP governors who will soon come over, we are expanding our scope to ensure PDP chieftains particularly those with electoral value cross over to the APC.
“It’s a work in progress and there are results.
On the division rocking the APC in Imo State, he said there is no split in the APC in the State, insisting that Governor Hope Uzodinma remains the leader of the party in the State.
