Ndikpa Umuduruagwu Abba Autonomous Community in Nwangele LGA of Imo state, 5.5 million water project is set for commissioning.
In a press release signed by the Chairman of Ndikpa Development Association, Ethelbert Olumba and Engr Fredrick Chimezie, Public Relations Officer, which was made available to Journalists, the commissioning of the huge water project will take place on 1st January 2021 at the project site in Ndipka Umuduruagwu Abba Auotonmous Community by 12 Noon prompt.
According to Chief Ethelbert Olumba, who doubles as the Chairman of the event and N. D. A Chairman, “The Ndikpa Water Project commenced with an initial budget of N5M in November 2020. It was targeted for completion by end December 2020. To make this stretched target come true, all the facets of the project had to work simultaneously in the face of galloping material costs. Luckily for the team, the project time was achieved with marginal cost increase due to additional capacity increase; thus bringing total project cost to N5.5M.”
Olumba pointed out that Ndikpa Development Association (NDA) is an independent philanthropic group formed by select members of Ndikpa village with the soul aim of contributing to the development of Ndikpa village of Umuduruagwu in Abba Autonomous Community of Imo State.
He maintained that NDA is an organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria as a Legal entity, adding that membership of NDA is open to approved Men and Women of Ndikpa extraction. Olumba further noted that NDA will also act as a pressure group to encourage quality and transparent leadership in Ndikpa village.
“NDA members donate their resources and time to execute laudable projects to help Ndikpa community. One of such projects is the Ndikpa Water Project. The Water Project – the water project was powered by the Uzoma family in Association with NDA. The Uzoma family of Ndikpa being the main financiers of the project with contributions from other members of NDA. The water project was started and completed in the fourth quarter of 2020.”
“The project harnessed an existing borehole donated by Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu, the Uburu II of Abba Autonomous Community. The NDA WATER PROJECTS includes the construction of multi million naira overhead water tank, installation of portable water distribution pipes to various locations of Ndikpa community and fencing of Ndikpa Water facility. This project will alleviate the suffering of Ndikpa community by bringing water supply closer to homes within the community.”
Olumba stressed that NDA will soon commence on the installation of a new transformer from the Eze’s palace inorder to improve the availability of power supply within the community,noting that NDA will continue to assist the community with future projects, educational and financial assistances in various areas of human endeavor, as will be determined by the group.
