Radical surgeon and pro lifer, Dr. Phillip Njemanze, has called on abductors of Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, Bishop Moses Chikwe, to release him unconditionally.

According to a statement by the Catholic church, Bishop Chikwe was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Sunday, December 27 in Owerri.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Njemanze, who has been a critic of plans to re introduce abortion law, recalled how Bishop Chikwe joined him in the crusade to speak against plans to re introduce the abortion bill, which he said, was re-packaged as VAPP bill.

“Bishop Chikwe has been a firm advocate against the reintroduction of abortion bill in the State in the name of VAPP bill. And he has not shifted his position on that matter. His abductors should release him unconditionally because he is a man that has stood for the truth and justice at all times.

Dr. Njemanze stated that the Abortion bill, which he had kicked against it in 2013, was re introduced as VAPP Bill in 2020.

Njemanze, had taken a swipe at the VAPP bill before the Imo State House of Assembly, describing it as satanic, and those behind it, enemies of God and the people.

Recall that the surgeon had in 2012, busted moves by the 7th Imo State House of Assembly, to pass a bill to legalize abortion.

He had stated that the proposed VAPP bill did not protect the rights of unborn child or children, noting that the bill seeks to deepen societal crisis, and if passed into law, will destroy the family, religious and traditional values.

Njemanze said “The proponents of the VAPP Bill are the ones who really are misinformed on the objectives of the VAPP bill. All statues that the VAPP states to address are all provided for with punishments in the Criminal Code. The Christian Moral teachings provides the guide against all the crimes listed from ages to this day. The main issue is not that the VAPP bill adds anything useful or proposes new ways of crime prevention for positive social transformation but rather seeks to deepen societal crisis using as cover the evils and distortions in human nature”.
