One fundamental issue uncovered during the process of marketing Prof. George Obiozor as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the acceptance of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as a visionary and purposeful leader in Igboland by Governors within the enclave of Igbo nationality.
This was disclosed by HRH Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanweh.
Eze Ohanweh, who was among delegates constituted by Imo State government led by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu( Ahaejiagamba) assigned with the mandate of garnering supports for Prof. Obiozor’s then candidature for President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, disclosed this on Tuesday, when interacting with Journalists at his Wisdom Palace, Ihim autonomous community in Isiala Mbano council area of Imo State.
” In all the seven states we visited, Governor Uzodimma’s name was an open door, they were telling us that our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma is a true son of Igboland. A great bridge builder, since the apex socio cultural organization’s President General position is zoned to Imo State. Our entire cooperation and support will never be in doubt because our Governor is a visionary and purposeful leader” he said
Eze Ohanwe expressed gratitude for being part of the delegates team which included the Clergy as represented by Rev. Divine Eche, Imo State CAN Chairman and Archbishop Athan Azubuike, the traditional institution was led by HRM Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, security experts were also represented by IGP Mike Okiro(rtd), the political class was equally represented by His Excellencies, Dr. Douglas Acholonu and Engr Ebere Udeagu as well as Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, then President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Imo State chapter and now the elected Assistant National Treasurer.
He described their assignment as wonderful, noting that it aided so much in unifying the Igbo race and for the first time in recent time, the Igbo nation spokewith one voice on Sunday 10th January, 2021 at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri by overwhelmingly voting Prof. George Obiozor as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The Monarch attributed the latest unification of Igbo nation to the strategic efforts of Governor Uzodimma, Chief Iwuanyanwu and Prof. Obiozor.
According to Eze Ohanwe who is also also the Chairman of Okigwe Elders Forum, he said ” the team has one vision and mission in mind, that is, one United Igbo ethnic nationality anchored on brotherly love and sincerity of purpose.
He said “All the traditional rulers, Governors and principal stakeholders in all the states visited applauded our presence and presentations. Thus,our strategic approach to reach out and harness Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the unity of purpose and to move Igbo nation forward is a manure of achievement for Prof. Obiozor to sustain” .
He further observed that other neighbouring states and ethnic groups in Nigeria never believed that Igbos can ever be united on issue (s) affecting their welfare.
He assured Ndigbo and Nigerians at large, that Prof. Obiozor based on his pedigree and antecedents would consolidate on the gains of his predecessor, Chief Nnia Nwodo and re-position the ethnic group to greater glory.
