A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, Chief Fidelis Nwachukwu, has revealed that political foot-soldiers of former Governor Rochas Okorocha “are bidding their time before they cross over to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the All Progressive Congress, APC”
In telephone interview with INNONEWS in Owerri, he stated that though the former Governor and his followers remain in the All Progressive Congress, APC for now, his political family, popularly called the Rescue Mission family, will decamp to the PDP when they eventually lose out in the scramble for the soul of the APC in Imo State
Nwachukwu said “If you observe carefully, the PDP in the state are no longer attacking Owelle and his programmes. Okorocha’s men, particularly his media handlers have all slowed down in attacking the outgone Ihedioha government. They have rather united in their onslaught against the Uzodimma administration.
“We will see a repeat of what happened before the 2019 governorship election in the State where then Governor, Okorocha remained in the APC, while his political camp led by his son in law, Uche Nwosu, left the APC for the Action Alliance, AA.
“When the chips are down again on or before 2023, they will decamp to the PDP. And that will happen when they eventually lose out in the fight to take over the APC in Imo State. I can tell you that leaders of the PDP in the State and the Okorocha camp are already romancing
“You should know the political implications for Owelle Okorocha and his political family if in the long run, Uzodimma controls 100% of the APC structure in the State. A return to the senate for a second term could be cloudy. This will also apply to his men and followers who are eying one elective position or the other” he said
Mr. Ukandu said former Governor Okorocha’s visit to Rivers state on the invitation of Governor Nyesom Wike, “is more than a mere invitation to commission roads”
“Politicians speak in parables. Okorocha said both the good people in the PDP and APC should come together for a better Nigeria. That tells you that he may have his sights on the PDP to continue his political voyage” he stated
Okorocha had in his speech at the commissioning of the Rumueche- Rumuakunde- Ohna- Awuse Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, spoke on the prospect of a new political force springing up ahead of the general elections in 2023.
While calling for a synergy between leaders of the South East and South South zones in view of similarities in culture, Okorocha called for an alliance of like minds in the APC and the PDP.
He also spoke on the possibility of an alliance with Governor Nyesom Wike
“There are very bad people in APC and there are very bad people in PDP. So, I think the good people in APC and the good people in PDP must come together for the purpose of making Nigeria great.
