The All Progressive Congress, APC, Imo State chapter, has said it is waiting for the next moves of former Governor of the State, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha had announced his intention to leave the APC and float a new political party.
APC Imo State Chairman, Marcellinus Nlemigbo, said the party is keeping an eye on the Senator
“Okorocha is a citizen of Nigeria and in our country, free speech is not a crime. We will wait until he takes action”
“But let it be known that with or without Okorocha, Imo APC is strong. We are not disturbe neither are we threatened by what he said” The Punch quoted Nlemigbo to have said.
Despite announcing his desire to form a new party, the Senator representing Orlu zone in the Senate, at the weekend, convened a meeting of APC chieftains in Owerri, mostly those loyal to him.
At the meeting, the Dan Nwafor faction of the party, which Okorocha roundly supports, called on the National Caretaker Commitee of the party to saddle it with the responsibility of embarking on registration of party members in the State.
The faction insists that it still posses a valid order of the Appeal Court, Abuja which recognised it as the authentic executive of the APC in Imo State.
