Imo Workers Confused Over Govt, Labour Directives

Workers in the State are confused over counter directives from Labour and the State government.

This seems to have a worrisome impact on the State workforce.

While the State government directed workers to resume work, or risk not been paid, Labour which is now factionalized, had directed workers to stay at home over unpaid salaries.

The Austin Chilakpu led NLC was ‘removed’ by Governor Hope Uzodimma and in its place, a fresh leadership was appointed and recognised by the Governor.

This attracted the rage of the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, who said the Governor’s action is unacceptable.

Following the rift between labour and the State government, workers in the State are in dilemma.

Some of them in compliance with the Governor’s directive resumed work, while a good number of them obeyed the directive of the State government.

Not all government agencies opened for work, just as the State Commissioner of Information, Declan Emelumba said those who absent from work will not receive salaries.
