In appreciation for his numerous contributions in the promotion and sustainability of Igbo good cultural and traditional heritage, Sir Dom Ekeigwe has been decorated with Imo State Patronship of Igbo National Stakeholders Assembly (INSA), World wide.
The event was held last Sunday at Umueleke ancestral home of Ekeigwe in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and was presided by Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka, the Imo State Chairman of INSA, who officiated the ceremony with other leaders, members and chieftains of the socio cultural organization.
Chukwuemeka who described Ekeigwe as a true son of Igbo land, an Ambassador of peace and patriotism, also commended him for using his hard earned resources for the promotion of Igbo unity, its economic development, promotion and sustainability of its rich cultural and traditional heritage.
He said the Organization’s Patronship is not for sale or being awarded for economic benefits, but rather in appreciation of his contributions towards the growth and advancement of the group’s mission and vision, and also as a good cultural ambassador.
The Chairman decried the activities of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, as being instrumental to the lack of unity of purpose among the Igbo nation, insisting that his organization is committed towards the realization of Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023.
He also blamed the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for allowing the organization to be politicized unnecessarily to the detriment of the ethnic nationality. He henceforth canvassed for brotherly love anchored on patriotism and visionary leadership. He further expressed worry on the extent of extinction of Igbo language and called on Igbo leaders, traditional rulers and parents to have a rethink and make sacrifices in promoting the sustenance of Igbo Language.
Sir Dom Ekeigwe in his response, charged members and leaders of the organization on the need for transparency, credibility and integrity in all their activities. He also expressed dissatisfaction on lack of unity among Igbos, which he attributed to gross marginalization of the ethnic group in Nigeria.
He expressed his willingness of give the organization international exposure by setting it up in United States of America (USA) if given the mandate, stressing that the essence of joining Nigerian politics, since 2010 is to emancipate his people from clutches of poverty and under development.
Among eminent personalities who graced the event are Chief Valentine Amafili, Imo State SDP Chairman and Mr. Tony Anyanwu,a businessman, among others.
