The resumption of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, on Monday, January 25, 2021, may not take place after all following a fresh directive by Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities.

Schools in the State are expected to resume on Monday, but this may have been thrown into the works, over Labour planned strike.

At IMSU, SSANU directed members to remain at home till further notice”

SSANU in a statement signed by Harrison Agumbah (Ag Chairman), and Ambrose Okereafor (Secretary), noted that the organized labour will embark on indefinite strike on Monday, January 25, 2021

“The decision followed the failure of the State government to address the issues contained in the ultimatum as well as the warning strike issued to the State government by the organized labour of Imo State” part of the statement seen by this newspaper read.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma had in a broadcast, Friday, said the State government is commiteed to the welfare of the workers.

He had forced workers to stay at home in December, closing down the State Secretariat.
