Imo NUJ Congratulates Chris Njoku Over Election Victory


The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo Council, has congratulated Mr Chris Njoku, a correspondent with The Nation newspaper on his victory as the Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel after its election held Thursday Jan. 4, 2021.


The Council Chairman, Comrade Chris Akaraonye gave the commendation in a press statement issued in Owerri on Friday. He congratulated the chapel for the peaceful conduct of the election. 


He urged the new executive to carry other members along for the growth and development of journalism  in particular and the state in general. 


The NUJ Chairman advised the new executive to look into the issue of some of its members suspended from the chapel and others not enrolled in the  chapel and resolve the issues   for a way forward.


He described the correspondent chapel as a force to reckon with in the journalism profession and urged them to always relate well and collaborate with the mother union (the NUJ) for sensitive decision making to avoid friction and misunderstanding among members and the parent body.


He congratulated Mr Chris Njoku for emerging as the chairman of the chapel and urged other members to support him to succeed in the state.
