PRESS RELEASE
In the face of conflicts being witnessed in the South East Geopolitical Zone, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has expressed worry over the growing security tension, appealing to the people not to be deterred but remain calm and law-abiding.
Anyanwu regretted that while other zones were working hard to improve the standard of living of their people, leaders in the South East were busy fueling crisis.
He called on security agencies to immediately swing into action to restore law and order in Emene, Enugu, Orlu in Imo, Ezza/Effium in Ebonyi, Osisioma Ngwa in Abia, and Aguleri/Umuleri in Anambra states respectively, rather than allow mischief makers continue to drag the zone to public ridicule.
According to him, “the major priority of any average Nigerian is how to survive under this debilitating condition occasioned by bad APC leadership in the country, instead of fighting with one another”
“Security is beyond party affiliations, it has nothing to do with membership of APC, APGA or PDP, it is all about the protection of lives and properties. We must bear that in mind and reject being fooled.”
“It’s very clear that the agenda of those behind the growing tension is to destroy the efforts of Igbo leaders to unite. My advise to them is to eschew rancor and acrimony and be the best they can for the good of our society.” He said.
Senator Anyanwu therefore called on leaders in the South East to embrace one another, maintaining that until peace was made a priority, the unity of the zone would continue to remain not only a mirage but an impossibility.
