Loyalists of former Governor of Imo State and Senator Representing Orlu zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha, are suspiciously silent over the recent travails of their principal.
Aside students of Rochas College Foundation, Owerri, who took to the streets to protest the arrest of the Senator by the Police last Sunday, none of his multitude of those who benefited from his administration when he was Governor, have openly defended their boss.
Some of them contacted by this newspaper to speak on the ordeal of the former Governor suspiciously shied away from the matter.
Okorocha is on the eye of the storm after the Imo State government sealed the Royal Palm Estate, Owerri, a property linked to his wife.
The former Governor was arrested by the Police after he unsealed the property after it was sealed by officials of the State government.
Since the incident occured, political footsoldiers of the ex Governor have remained silent, which is indicative of the fact that the former Governor may be gradually losing members of his political family to the opposition.
Aside his media Adviser, Mr. Sam Onwuemedo, who has been issuing press releases defending his principal in the media, and factional Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Dan Nwafor, who called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter, most of his loyalists have shied away from the matter.
One of his loyalists, when contacted by this newspaper to speak on the melee at Royal Palm Estate promised to call back, but never did.
Another former aide of Senator when he was Governor, failed to speak to our reporter when contacted.
Recently, some loyalists of the former Governor secured appointments in Governor Uzodimma’s administration , whom Okorocha had engaged in fierce political altercations lately.
Okorocha may be in for turbulent times as High Court sitting in Owerri presided by Justice Njemanze ordered interim forfeiture of assets of the former Governor.
