‘Your Rift Meaningless, Distraction To Imolites”-Watchdog Group Tells Uzodimma, Okorocha

A watchdog group, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, has advised Governor Hope Uzodimma and former Governor of the State and Senator representing Imo West in the senate, Senator Rochas Okorocha to dump their grievances and rather focus on the welfare of the people of the State.

Fidelis Echendu, spokesman of the Coalition, told INNONEWS, Friday in Owerri, that the rift between the duo “is meaningless,a distraction and adds no value to the well-being of the people and the development of the State”

Recall that the IAC had advised supporters of the two leaders not to turn Imo State into a ‘gangsters paradise’, ostensibly reacting to the latest drama which trailed the sealing of Royal Palm Estate, Owerri, a property linked to the wife of Okorocha.

The estate was sealed by the Imo State government but unsealed by the Senator, a move which led to his arrest by the Police.

Uzodimma and Okorocha had before the sealing of the estate engaged in fierce altercations over issues bordering on governance and affairs of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the State.

The IAC said it is worrisome that issues such as salaries of workers, pensions of pensioners, rising level of insecurity in the State and more importantly, the hardship ravaging the people have been “consigned to the background for no reason and Uzodimma and Okorocha rift elevated and blown out of proportion, particularly by the media”

“There is hunger and despondency in the land and little attention is given to it. Workers in the State are lamenting over unpaid salaries, and our men and women of yester-years are complaining of non payment of pensions, rather than focus on these issues and find a lasting solution to them, we have rather placed emphasis on trivial issues such as the latest rift between Okorocha and Uzodimma, which is completely meaningless.

“The people of Imo State suffered under Okorocha. Has there been any change in the lives of the people of the State since he left office? Has the poor state of infrastructure in the State improved since then? The answer is no. If the Uzodimma administration is enabled by law to confiscate properties adjudged acquired illegally, then as a government they know what to do” he stated
