The last one week from February 21- 28, 2021 was eventful in Imo State.
Former Governor Rochas Okorocha arrested.
The week started with the arrest of Imo State Governor and Senator representing Orlu zone in the senate, Senator Rochas Okorocha by the Police.
Okorocha had unsealed Royal Palm Estate at Akachi Road, Owerri after the property was sealed by the State Commissioner for Lands, Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu.
‘APC Has Created A Frankstein Monster Which Haunts Peace In Imo’- Imo PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in it reaction to ugly incidents which led to the arrest of Senator Rochas Okorocha by the Police called on the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state, not to turn Imo into a war zone.
In a statement by Ogu Bundu Nwadike, Publicity Secretary of the party, he said “the APC has created a frankenstein monster which haunts the peace of the people of Imo State”
Gov. Uzodimma Meets Buhari In Abuja
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking to State House correspondents shortly after meeting the President, Uzodimma said he invited the military to come to Orlu to fish out members of Eastern Security Network, ESN.
Editors Condemn Military Siege In Orlu.
Editors in Imo State under the aegis of Forum Of Imo Based Newspapers Editors, FINE, condemned the military siege in Orlu and Orsu axis in Imo State.
In a statement in Owerri signed by Chinedu Egere and Chigozie Uzosike, Chairman and Secretary of the Forum, the editors expressed worry that such military campaign in rather peaceful rural communities is capable of causing panic, injuries and deaths.
Association Of Imo Indigenous Town Unions Elect New President
The Association of Imo State Indigenous Town Unions, ASIETU, have elected a new President.
He is Mr. Samson Ogbso from Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Chief Chris Chikwe, Ogbos polled 14 votes to defeat his main challenger, Mr. Monday Ikokwu who got 11 votes.
