Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Frank Ibezim, have continued their messy race to the senate, using legal fireworks to actualize their desire to go to the Red Chambers of the Nigerian senate.

The latest court judgement on the matter is, the ruling of the Appeal Court, which upheld the sack of Mr. Frank Ibezim, as candidate of the APC for the December 5, 2020 Okigwe senate election.

Recall that a Federal High Court, Abuja, had ruled on a suit filed by Senator Ifeanyi Arararume,  that Ibezim presented fake certificates to the APC and INEC, thus stands disqualified and barred from holding any public office.

The verdict of the Appellate Court came barely a day, the Supreme Court had dismissed two appeals by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, in which he sought among others, court order to declare him the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last bye-election for the Imo North Senatorial District of Imo State.

A five man panel of the court, headed by Justice Amina Augie, in two judgements, affirmed the judgments of the Court of Appeal, Owerri Division, which voided the proceedings and decisions in the suit filed by Lady Uchenna Onyeiwu Ubah before the Federal High Court in Owerri.

The latest judgment by the Court of Appeal adds up to a ceaseless ongoing legal tussle over Okigwe senate seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,had declared APC winner of the Okigwe senate election but did not return any candidate.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called in INEC to disqualify both Araraume and Ibezim, and declare its candidate, Emmanule Okewulou, winner of the election. Okewulonu placed second in the contest.
