Details surfaced at the weekend what triggered Governor Hope Uzodimma’s latest onslaught on former Governor Rochas Okorocha, who also represents Imo West at the Senate.

Uzodimma and Okorocha had been involved in altercations for months, with the basis of their rift, ranging from the battle for the soul of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the State and other State matters.

Last week, the intensity of the feud increased after Governor Okorocha was seen in a video that went viral on the internet, boasting that he is richer than those in government, ostensibly referring to the Uzodimma administration.

A source within government circles said Okorocha’s comment attracted the ire of the Governor and officials of his administration, which prompted the recent onslaught against the former Governor and Senator.

The source said “The former Governor crossed the line when he made such statement. How can he say he is richer than government, moreso when Imolites are yet to forgive him for his eight years of misrule of the State? Such statements are intolerable, and indeed unacceptable.

In a quick succession, barely a week Okorocha boasted of how rich he is, the Uzodimma administration moved swiftly against the former Governor.

The Imo State House of Assembly followed suit, by renaming the Eastern Palm University, EPU to K.O Mbadiwe University.

Okorocha had claimed ownership of the university, which he claimed was a public private partnership (PPP) arrangement, with the State government having a minimal stake in the university.

Next was the sealing of the Royal Palm Estate, another choice property in Owerri linked to the wife of the former Governor, Nneoma Rochas Okorocha.

Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Urban Development,  Barr  Enyinnaya Onuegbu said the property was sealed in line with the recommendation contained in Government White paper of the Justice Duruohaigwe led Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Lands and other Related matters, which was debated and adopted by the Imo State Executive Council.

Recall that Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba had last month, had accused Okorocha of squandering the state resources within the eight years he held sway as the governor of the State.
