The 27 Interim management Committee Chairmen of the 27 Local Governments in the State, are in charge of the ongoing membership revalidation of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The APC had embarked on membership revalidation across the country.

The exercise has been ongoing smoothly in the local governments with Chairmen and members of the Interim Management Council taking full charge of the exercise at the wards and LGA levels.

Despite the co-operation of appointees of the Uzodimma administration and party leaders towards the exercise, this newspaper gathered that some of them are not really happy with the development.

“Though they are not happy with the development, they have to obey and join the process to ensure a hitch free exercise. Party leaders, elders, some of them appointees in government were subsumed and directed to take orders from the IMC Chairmen on the exercise” said an APC chieftain who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Some of the appointees of government and leaders had complained that such party exercise of such magnitude should be handled by party leaders in the LGAS who are also officials of government.

It was gathered that the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma had directed the IMC Chairmen and members to take control of the exercise and rather liaise with leaders in the LGAs.

A former ranking member of the Imo State House of Assembly had queried the decision at a stakeholders meeting, expressing displeasure why he had work under his LGA Chairman, when he is the highest ranking political office holder in his local government.

He was said to have been rebuffed on the grounds that IMC Chairmen are in charge of the grassroots than anyone who bears any other ‘nomenclature’

Recall that the 27 IMC Chairmen are core loyalists of Governor Hope Uzodimma, who formed the nucleus of his CAMP HOPE, the Governor’s political structure he used to vie for the 2019 Imo state government election.
