Olu Owerri To Iwuanyanwu: Stop Betraying Us

Olu Owerri, the apex socio cultural organization, has reacted to comments credited to Chief Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu wherein he said he regretted voting for an Owerri man in the 2019 Imo governorship election.

Olu Owerri described as abominable and sacrilegious the latest comments attributed to the Chief Iwuanyanwu, insisting that the people of Owerri zone are not surprised as his betrayal of the zone “is as old as he is and has become habitual”

In a press release signed by the President General, Chief Martin Opara after an emergency National Executive Council  meeting in Owerri and made available to newsmen, the union condemned “the attitude and utterances of Chief Iwuanyanwu and noted that his betrayal of Owerri zone were prominent in 1998 when he abandoned an Owerri son, Chief Evan Enwerem to champion the emergence of Chief Ezekiel Izuogu of Orlu zone as the APP candidate due to alleged pecuniary reasons.

The group noted that “this betrayal has continued since 1998 till date up to the recently concluded Ohanaeze Ndigbo election where he, true to his habit, made himself a willing tool to stop very younger and brighter Owerri sons, Dr. Joe Nworgu and Chief Chris Asoluka, in favor of Orlu zone that currently has the governorship seat”

Opara said  “We invite Chief Iwuanyanwu to note that we are constrained to come to a conclusion that he did not even vote for an Owerri man in the 2019 election because if he did, he would have behaved himself like a man whose vote and  mandate was stolen. For now, we will continue to doubt that the blood of the Owerri man is flowing in your veins unless a DNA proves otherwise because we cannot reconcile how a full blooded Owerri son will prefer to insult the sensibilities of his traumatized people each time he is given the microphone.

The group called on Chief Iwuanyanwu “to apologize to the people of Owerri zone and Imolites at large withing seven days for daring to make negative remarks against the brilliant, development and reform orientated as well as courageous outing of an Owerri son, Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, withing a very short time before the infamous Supreme Court ruling.”

It stated that failure to do so will compel the organization to consign Chief Iwuanyanwu to a hall of shame.
