Eminent Imolites are set to brainstorm at a summit designed to dwell on assets recovery allegedly cornered by former Imo State Governor and Senator Representing Imo West Senatorial Zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha had governed Imo State for eight years and was indicted by a White paper which originated from the recommendations of Justice Florence Duruoha Igwe Judicial Panel Of Inquiry on Lands and other Related Matters.

The Imo Compatriots For Good Governance, a non political group are organizers of the summit with the theme “Recovering looted Imo Assets From Senator Rochas Okorocha and cronies”,

Briefing newsmen at NUJ Secretariat, Owerri on the summit, Friday, spokesman of the group, Chief Ahude Jeo Mbama, said speakers expected at the summit include former Chairman, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, a public policy analyst, Dr.Katch Ononuju, and fiery critic, Prof Protus Nathan Uzoma.

Dan Nwanyanwu of Zenith Labour Party, will chair the event.

He said the summit will take place on 31st March 2021 at Villa Gardens, Owerri.

According to Mbama, the group wants the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to implement the contents of the White Paper to the latter, which according to him, recommended that assets belonging to the State government in former Governor Okorocha’s possession, his family members are recovered.

“We want to give teeth to the implementation of the Whitepaper. We do not want negotiations, or the matter being swept under the carpet.We want full recovery of all properties belonging to the State taken away by the former Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha

“Governor Uzodimma should also be encouraged to return the resources of the State taken away by Okorocha and his cronies. It should not be kept in view. We also encourage him to recover the commonwealth of the State from Okorocha

Mbaama also kicked against comments credited to the former Governor wherein he  said he is richer than the government of Imo State.
