Loyalists, friends and associates of former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Rochas Okorocha have been gripped by fear over plans by the Imo State government to commence demolition, seizure and recovery of properties said to belong to the State government but in private hands.

The State government had sealed the Royal Palm Estate, Akachi road, Owerri, linked to the wife of the former Governor.

Okorocha had unsealed the property and was arrested by the Police.

After the Royal Palm Estate incident, the State Executive Council, SEC, last week vowed to commence recovery of the former Governor’s properties and others recommended for recovery, demolition or seizure by the Justice Florence Duru Oha Igwe Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Lands and other Related Matters.

And as part of the recovery efforts, the State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning which has been saddled with the task of the recovery exercise has commenced markings on properties to be recovered or demolished in compliance with the recommendation of the Panel.

INNONEWS gathered that this has sent fear down the spines of friends and members of Okorocha’s political family, including Uche Nwosu, Okorocha’s son in law, whose Westbrook Hotel, Owerri, has been listed for seizure/demolition as contained in the Panel’s report.

According to the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry, Westbrook Hotel was marked for demolition for being situated on a land designated for the construction of New Government House, Owerri

Also affected is a property belonging to Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and member, House of Representatives.

The Imo State government had Senator Rochas Okorocha, to show proof of ownership of his several properties on or before April 21, 2021, or such properties risks forfeiture.
