Group Demands Sack Of Imo Interim LG Chairmen, Give Reasons

A socio political group, Save Imo, has listed reasons why Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, should sack the 27 Interim Management committee, IMC Chairmen of the 27 local governments in the State.

In a statement, Founder of the group and whistleblower, Ebube Ekenulo, said “by law, the tenure of appointed Interim Committee Chairmen have expired”

“All, every and any actions these expired Interim management committee chairmen takes or took a minute after the expiration of their appointments/tenures are illegal, null and void including collecting salaries and allowances.

“Illegality does not beget legality!

“The speaker of IMHA, house leadership and honorable members must perform their oversight functions and duties with unprecedented courage as elected representatives of the people. Perform your legislative duties to the glory of God and your constituents. I didn’t say fight our Governor but don’t be Executive rubber stamp at the detriment of the people you represent.

The group leader accused the Chairmen of fomenting crisis in the Town Unions in the State.

“Interim management committee chairmen have no business whatsoever and legal toga interfering with Town Unions leadership and who becomes President General.

“To impose Town Union leadership or President  General or dissolve an elected Town Union leadership or President General by any IMC chairmen is excessively an abuse of power, impunity of the highest order and  illegality which must be resisted by the people of such community or communities. 

“Deploy civil disobedience as doctrine of necessity to checkmate and counter these power drunk IMC chairmen whose tenure have expired, some go about collecting bribe to fix and impose unpopular PG on communities and who have done more harm to the government of the day than good and debasing the rising popularity of His Excellency !

“No community in Imo state should allow any IMC chairman expired or not to foist a President General on their throats. Resist it as gallants of the people.

“Community based associations/Unions should be left alone to drive social developments in community where they are domiciled without undue interference from government quarters.

“His Excellency is hereby advised to be extremely careful with  these IMC chairmen, do not allow them to sabotage your government with lip service and unbridled sycophancy and do not  allow them to jeopardise the foundation base of your 2nd term except you do not want do a 2nd term” the statement read.
