Senator Samuel Anyanwu has advised religious leaders to pray for the country in over rising insecurity.

He challenged them to also seek the face of God in order to ensure the sustenance of peace in Nigeria.

In a statement, Anyanwu who represented Imo East Senatorial District at the Senate, from 2015- 2019, also charged traditional rulers and their cabinet members to monitor movements of strange elements within their communities as part of efforts to check the ugly trend.

According to him, the spate of kidnappings, bombings and killings across the country, is getting out hand, thus the need for urgent intervention.

He charged Christians and Muslims to embark on spiritual exercise, advising leaders of both religion, not to allow tribal sentiments affect their mode of intercession for the country.

Senator Anyanwu noted that God’s intervention was necessary, to remedy the situation before the current upheveal in the country degenerates to another civil war.

“What is going on in Nigeria today has gone beyond mere physical security, Christians and Muslims all over the country should rise up in prayer to remedy this insecurity menace. This is not time for blames, but time for spiritual cleansing. I believe that God remains the only solution to this malady without harbouring any tribal sentiment. Surely, he will bring this situation to normalcy” he said
