Elder Statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has condemned the massacre of some persons in Ebonyi State by suspected killer herdsmen just as he raised fresh alarm over possible attacks by the herdsmen in Imo State.

Herdsmen reportedly killed no fewer than 20 persons and destroyed property worth millions of Naira in Egedegede, Obegu and Amuzu communities in Ishielu Council Area of Ebonyi State.

Iwuanyanwu said the attacks is an insult on Igbos, saying leaders and elders of the Igbo nation will not tolerate such heinous act anymore.

Speaking when he received in audience a youth Body, Nigeria Patriotic Youth Against Corruption and Transparency Initiative in his office in Owerri,he said the activities of killer herdsmen and terrorists in the country has become worrisome and unacceptable, urging the Federal Government to take urgent steps to nip the activities of killer herdsmen in the bud.

He said “We will no longer keep quite over such act. It is an insult in Igboland for one to be killed or attacked in his home. Soon elders and Ohanezee will meet on this issue. Igbos will not accept a situation where these herders will come, invade and kill our people.

He expressed worry over the rising level of insecurity in the country, noting that the activities of Boka Haram, ISWAP in the Northern part of the country, has contributed to weaken the economy of the nation.

Iwuanyanwu however maintained his belief in one Nigeria, but stressed the need for restructuring which he noted will guarantee equity for all Nigerians

“We also believe in a restructured Nigeria,  where every group will develop at its own pace. Nigeria is an important country to me. And there are more benefits if we continue to live as one big nation. But it is important we restructure the country so that everyone will be happy” he said

He charged youths of the country to rise to the challenges confronting the nation.

“The youths of this country must come together. I believe in the youths of this country” he said

Earlier in his remarks, the Co Coordinator, Nigerian Patriotic Youth Against Corruption and Transparency Initiative, Comrade (Amb) Godiya T.
